Oak Grove Cemetery is honored to be the final resting place for more than six hundred veterans. Fourteen of these veterans served our country in more than one war:
* Revolutionary War (1)
* Civil War (72)
* War of 1812 (4)
* Spanish American War (6)
* World War I (124)
* World War II (265)
* Korean Conflict (82)
* Vietnam War (40)
* Gulf War (4)
* Pacific Theater (33) -
Their Stories
Oak Grove recognizes that each veteran played an important part in our country’s history, and it is part of our mission to preserve and honor their contributions. In addition to keeping the records about the details of their service, we would also like to preserve the stories which are often lost over time. If you would like to contribute a story relating to a veteran’s military service, please contact us to share. Photos to accompany the stories are also welcome.

Volunteering
Thank you to the volunteers who placed flags on the graves of veterans buried at the cemetery in time for Memorial Day. Organized by Mr. Lou Armstrong, mayor of Freedom, volunteers gathered at the cemetery on Saturday, May 10, at 9 A.M. Volunteers included Andrea Capehart, Aubrey Capehart, Madison Capehart, Evie Lindgren (all members of Girl Scout Troop 16209); Jim and Kathy Blanarik; Don and Kim Farrow; Kevin Horan and Aliah Wasko; Devyn, Cassie, and Logan Lindeman; Jim Miller; Racheal Neish; Talia and Jamie Philippou; and Isabella Tedeschi. In addition to serving as mayor of Freedom, Mr. Armstrong is also the de facto representative of the no-longer active Freedom American Legion. Their dedication and donation of time to honor veterans is greatly appreciated.
